George Groves

George was born in June 1853 in Whippingham, Isle of Wight and his christening took place there on June 5th, 1853.¹² George's father was Henry Groves and his mother was Jane Pilkington. His paternal grandparents were William Groves and Jane Barnett. He had a brother and a sister, named Joseph and Jane. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 77 in June 1930 in Isle of Wight. He was buried on June 4th, 1930 in East Cowes, Isle of Wight.³⁴
