Richard was born in 1839 in Dunbar Haddington Scotland.  Richard's father was Mathew Comb and his mother was Mary Crombie.  His paternal grandparents were James Comb and Anne Marr; his maternal grandparents were Richard Crombie and Margaret Hume. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James, William, Mathew, Margaret, Mary, Agnes, Elizabeth and Jeanie.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  He died  due to Died 1861 to 1871 at the age of 22 in 1861 in at Sea.
