Mary was born in 1837 in Dunbar East Lothian Scotland.  Mary's father was Mathew Comb and her mother was Mary Crombie.  Her paternal grandparents were James Comb and Anne Marr; her maternal grandparents were Richard Crombie and Margaret Hume. She had four brothers and four sisters, named James, Richard, William, Mathew, Margaret, Agnes, Elizabeth and Jeanie.  She was the third oldest of the nine children.  She died  due to Typhus Fever 9 weeks with Lung Conjestion at the age of 33 on November 17th, 1870 in 11 Salisbury Terrace Edinburgh Scotland.
