William was born on September 1st, 1831 in Shop Street Barking and his christening took place on September 14th, 1831 at St Margaret's  Church Barking conducted by Curate O Lodge.1  William's father was William Simmans (shoemaker) and his mother was Hannah Cabburn.  His paternal grandparents were William Simmans (LinenDraper) and Sarah Belchar; his maternal grandparents were William Cabburn (Excise Officer b Gt Marlow ?) and Elizabeth Cuff. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William, James, George, Thomas, Walter, Elizabeth, Sarah, Hannah and Sarah.  He died at the age of 75 on May 14th, 1907 in Union Infirmary.  The funeral took place on May 19th, 1906 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.  He was buried on May 19th, 1906 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.2 3
