William was born on April 4th, 1864 in Back Lane Barking and his christening took place on June 15th, 1864 at St Margaret's Barking.1 2  William's father was William Joseph Simmans (Bricklayer) and his mother was Eliza Ann Godfrey.  His paternal grandparents were William Simmans (shoemaker) and Hannah Cabburn; his maternal grandparents were William Godfrey (B Barking Fisherman) and Ann Marie Darnell (b Poplar). He had a brother and five sisters, named Francis, Ester, Ellen, Georgina, Alice and Thirza.  He was the third oldest of the seven children. He had two half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Andrew, (called SIMMANS), Lavinia, Lilly, Jessie, (called SIMMANS), (called SIMMANS), (called SIMMANS) and (called SIMMANS).  He died about May 1st, 1921 at 23 Ranelegh Rd East Ham.  The funeral took place on May 3rd, 1921 at the Rippleside Cemetery Barking.  He was buried on May 3rd, 1921 at the Rippleside Cemetery Barking.3 4
