Annie was born about December 1874 in Camden Town.1  Annie's father was James Purves (Scotland Farrier) and her mother was Eleanor (Ellen) Hume (b Wooler/Berwick).  Her paternal grandparents were James Purves (Scotland Blacksmith) and Jane Morrison?; her maternal grandparents were William Hume (Ag Labourer) and Elizabeth. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Robert, James, John, Joseph, Margaret, Jane, Jessie, Ellen and Bessie.  She was the youngest of the ten children.
