Emma was born in June 1849 in Shoreditch.1  Emma's father was George Head (Gen Dealer-Green Grocer) and her mother was Ann. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named George, Joseph, James, John, Ann, Eliza, Mary, Louisa, Susan, Martha and Charlotte.  She was the fifth youngest of the twelve children.  She died at the age of 47 in September 1896 at 14 Haverstock Rd St Pancras.2

Emma and William were married in a religious ceremony on November 25th, 1866 at St John The Baptist Hoxton Middlesex witnessed by Daniel & Eliza Fryatt.3  They had two sons and eight daughters, named William, Frederick, Emma, Ada, Louisa, Nelly, Sophia, Minnie, Alice and Rose.
