Ann was born about 1833 in Shoreditch.1   Ann's father was George Head (Gen Dealer-Green Grocer) and her mother was Ann. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named George, Joseph, James, John, Eliza, Mary, Louisa, Susan, Emma, Martha and Charlotte.  She was the oldest of the twelve children.
