William's father was John Turner and his mother was Elisabeth Manuel.  His paternal grandparents were John Turner and Janet Marshall. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John, James, Peter, Richard, Robert, Janet and Mary.  He was the second youngest of the eight children. He had a half-sister named Mary.  He died at the age of 82 on November 25th, 1941 in Surrey.  The funeral took place on November 28th, 1941.^3 4 5
