Peter's father was John Turner and his mother was Elisabeth Manuel.  His paternal grandparents were John Turner and Janet Marshall. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John, James, Richard, William, Robert, Janet and Mary.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He had a half-sister named Mary.  He died at the age of 67 on July 14th, 1916 in Ballater.  He was buried in Ratho.^3 4 5
