Annie's father was Peter Turner and her mother was Catherine Fotheringham Archibald.  Her paternal grandparents were Peter Turner Sr. and Mary Russell. She had seven brothers and a sister, named Peter, Robert, William, John, George, Bryce, Frank and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.
