Elspeth's father was Hugh Savage and her mother was Margaret Dickson.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Savage and Elspeth Bone. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Robert, David, Francis, Grace, Margaret, Daniel, Agnes and Minia.  She was the second oldest of the nine children. She had a half-sister named Grace.  She died at the age of 49 on December 13th, 1902 in Falkirk.
