Joseph, known as Joe, was born on November 12th, 1883 in Broxburn.¹

Joe's father was John Maxwell and his mother was Isabella Henderson. His maternal grandparents were Michael Henderson and Margaret Galloway. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Andrew, Jack, Harry, Maggie, Elizabeth, Mary and Ellen. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 57 on January 18th, 1941 in Massachusetts. He was buried in Massachusetts.¹
