Isabella's father was Michael Henderson and her mother was Margaret Galloway. Her paternal grandparents were James Henderson and Isabel Walker; her maternal grandparents were Robert Galloway and Helen McLauchlan. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Michael, Robert, James, Alexander, John, Helen, Mary and Agnes. She was the youngest of the nine children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named David and Jeanie. She died due to a medical problem, cerebral meningitis, duration 5 days, at the age of 34 on January 21st, 1895 in Ulverston. She was buried on January 24th, 1895 in Ulverston.³⁴
