Isobel was born on August 28th, 1735 in Polmont and her baptism took place there on September 1st, 1735.1  Isobel's father was William Lorn and her mother was Jean Gardner.  Her paternal grandparents were William Lorn and Barbra Miller; her maternal grandparents were John Gardiner and Elspet Walker. She had four brothers and a sister, named John, Alexander, William, George and Agnes.  She was the third youngest of the six children.
