Agnes' father was William Lorn and her mother was Jean Gardner.  Her paternal grandparents were William Lorn and Barbra Miller; her maternal grandparents were John Gardiner and Elspet Walker. She had four brothers and a sister, named John, Alexander, William, George and Isobel.  She was the second youngest of the six children.
