Jean's father was Thomas Aitken and her mother was Margaret Addie.  Her paternal grandparents were James Aitken and Margaret Crauford; her maternal grandparents were John Addie and Janet Reid. She had three brothers and six sisters, named John, John, James, Janet, Margaret, Mary, Christian, Helen and Elizabeth.

  • "This is some evidence that Jean's mother was Margaret Addie's sister Janet because of the OPR record (O.P.R. Births 486/00100176). However, the current thinking is that this OPR is incorrect and that her mother was Margaret" Ron Halberg, 2008
