William's father was Hugh Kegan and his mother was Hughina Corrigan. His paternal grandparents were Hugh Keggans and Agnes Robertson. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Keagins, Hugh, John, Agnes, Maggie, Hughina, Hughina and Betty. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He died after 1973.²
