William's father was Hugh Kegan and his mother was Hughina Corrigan. His paternal grandparents were Hugh Keggans and Agnes Robertson. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Keagins, Hugh, John, Agnes, Maggie, Hughina, Hughina and Betty. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 83 in April 1985 in New York City.²
