Samuel's father was James Fyfe and his mother was Margaret (Maggie) Hamilton. His maternal grandparents were Hugh Hamilton and Catherine Ferguson. He had two brothers and four sisters, named James, John, Kate, Jessie, Maggie and Helen. He was the youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 70 on June 26th, 1947 in Bournemouth.³
