Helen's father was James Fyfe and her mother was Margaret (Maggie) Hamilton. Her maternal grandparents were Hugh Hamilton and Catherine Ferguson. She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, John, Samuel, Kate, Jessie and Maggie. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 33 on March 4th, 1902 in Renfrew.³
