James Brown 
James was born in 1883 in Liberton.1 James' father was Thomas Brown and his mother was Janet Johnston. His maternal grandparents were John Johnston and Ann Hardie Dick. He had three brothers and five sisters, named John, Andrew, David, Ann, Anna, Christina, Julia and Elizabeth. He was the youngest of the nine children.
