Ronald's father was Douglas Baxter and his mother was Margaret Hamilton.  His paternal grandparents were William Baxter and Janet Johnston. He had three sisters named Marion, Katherine and Margaret.  He was the second oldest of the four children. He had two half-sisters named Jean and Helen.  He died before 1841.¹
