Helen's father was Douglas Baxter and her mother was Margaret Aikman.  Her paternal grandparents were William Baxter and Janet Johnston. She had a sister named Jean.  She was the younger of the two children. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Ronald, Marion, Katherine and Margaret.
