Mary Lewis was born on February 11th, 1814 in Sevier County, Tennessee.  Mary Lewis' father was Isaac Love and her mother was Mary Lewis.  Her maternal grandparents were Mordecai Lewis and Mary Ziegler. She had nine brothers and four sisters, named William King, James Thomas, Alexander Preston, Andrew Martin, Mordecai Lewis, Reuben Blount, Isaac Moore, Elizabeth Thompson, John Wesley, Susannah, Sally KenCannon, Catherine McDonald and Margaret Mitchell Wear.  She was the fifth oldest of the fourteen children.
