Alexander Preston was born on February 12th, 1810 in Sevier County, Tennessee.  Alexander Preston's father was Isaac Love and his mother was Mary Lewis.  His maternal grandparents were Mordecai Lewis and Mary Ziegler. He had eight brothers and five sisters, named William King, James Thomas, Andrew Martin, Mordecai Lewis, Reuben Blount, Isaac Moore, Elizabeth Thompson, John Wesley, Mary Lewis, Susannah, Sally KenCannon, Catherine McDonald and Margaret Mitchell Wear.  He was the third oldest of the fourteen children.
