Phineas Edwin was born on June 18th, 1852 in Butler Co., OH.1 Phineas Edwin's father was Daniel W. Slayton and his mother was Mary Shiltz. His paternal grandparents were Luther Slayton and Almina Preston; his maternal grandparents were John Shiltz and Catherine. He had twelve brothers and four sisters, named James W., Phineas Edwin, George A, George Albert, John N, Cyrus E, Thadeus Jacob, Thadeus Jacob, Samuel Vernon, Samuel Vernon, Isaac, Isaac, Esther, Elizabeth J., Catherine and Catherine. He was the third oldest of the seventeen children.1 -
