Francis Marion was born on July 31st, 1823 in Green Co.,Kentucky. Francis Marion's father is James Pierce and his mother is Elizabeth Skaggs. His maternal grandparents were William Squire Skaggs and Mary Simpson. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William, John, George Washington, Polly, Nancy, Lydia and Sally Ann.
