Elizabeth was born about 1280 in Ulster, Ireland.  Elizabeth's father was Richard the Red Earl de Burgh and her mother was Hawise de Burgh.  Her paternal grandparents were Walter de Burgh and Aveline FitzJohn; her maternal grandparents were John de Burgh and Cecily de Baliol. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Edmund, John, Eleanor, Aveline, Katherine, Matilda and Joan.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.  She died on October 26th, 1327 in Cullen Castle, Banffshire, Grampian, Scotland.  She was buried in Dunfermline Abbey, Fife, Scotland.


Elizabeth's family with Robert I Bruce of Scotland

‌Elizabeth and Robert I Bruce of were married in a religious ceremony in 1302.  They had five sons and five daughters, named David II Bruce of, John, Walter Bruce of, Robert Bruce of, Neil Bruce of, Margaret, Margaret, Christina Bruce of, Elizabeth and Matilda.
