Eleanor was born about 1230 in Breconshire, Wales.  Eleanor's father was William (Black Will) de Braose and her mother was Eve Marshal.  Her paternal grandparents were Reginald de Braose and Grace (Gracia) de Briwere; her maternal grandparents were William the Protector Marshal and Isabel Fitz Richard Strongbow de Clare. She had three sisters named Maud, Eve and Isabela. She had two half-brothers named Roger II de St. Maur of and William II de St. Maur of Undy &.  She died about 1246 in Llanthony Inn, Gloucestershire, England.

‌Eleanor and Humphrey VI the Younger were married in a religious ceremony in 1239 in Brecknock, Breconshire, Wales.  They had two sons and a daughter, named Gilbert, Humphrey VII and Alianore.
