Perry Sylvester Bess was born on October 3rd, 1877 in Roane County, West Virginia. Perry Sylvester Bess' father was Perry G. Shaver and his mother was Mary J. Jennings. His paternal grandparents were John David Shaver and Nancy Tanner. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Ralph, William Millard, Cassiver Walker, Henry Fry, Amos C., Nancy and Eliza J.. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named J. William, Clayton, Walter, Samuel, Luella J. and Ida. He died at the age of 70 on December 25th, 1947 in Roane County, West Virginia. He was buried in Rocky Branch Cemetery,Johnson Creek,Kanawha County, WV.-
