Nancy was born on May 6th, 1874 in Kanawha County, West Virginia. Nancy's father was Perry G. Shaver and her mother was Mary J. Jennings. Her paternal grandparents were John David Shaver and Nancy Tanner. She had six brothers and a sister, named Ralph, William Millard, Perry Sylvester Bess, Cassiver Walker, Henry Fry, Amos C. and Eliza J.. She is the third oldest of the eight children. She has four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named J. William, Clayton, Walter, Samuel, Luella J. and Ida.-
