According to Ted Cagley from "Known Descendents of Simon Crosiar"
compiled by Ted Cagley Box 121, Pontiac, Illinois 61764:
"It is known that Simon had at least three brothers; all three moved to
Illinois after Simon.  James CROSIAR and William CROSIAR arrived in
Illinois in 1831 and settled near Shippingport, Illinois.  Both left the
area to move west in 1833.  A third brother, Amzi, was also born in
Pittsburg and settled at Utica, Illinois, in 1833.  He was killed by a
team of runaway horses in 1848."   "He built a sawmill and ran a store
and warehouse (Utica) and was captain of the steamer Ottawa, which ran
between Utica and Peoria.  Simon received the contract to build six miles
of the Illinois-Michigan Canal; he used the income from this contract to
buy sizeable amounts of Utica Township farm land."  "Prior to leaving
Pennsylvania, Simon served in the War of 1812, as a private in Captain
Samuel Cooper's Company, attached to the 2nd Regiment (Purviance's),
Pennsylvania Infantry.  According to his military record, on file at the
National Archives, Washington,D.C., he served from September 15,1812 to
December 31, 1812 and received a total pay of $20.65."
Some sources list his birth in about 1791.

Company 1886:
Page 381- James and William Crosiar, brothers of Simon Crosiar, from
Pittsburg, PA., settled on Section 36, near Shippingport, in 1831; they
both left in 1833.  Page 355-Simon Crosiar was born near Pittsburgh,
PA...active participant in the Black Hawk war...Page 687- Amasa O.
Crosiar, Son of Simon and Sarah (Owen) Crosiar, was born in Clermont
County, Ohio, October 12, 1817 He accompanied his parents to Illinois,
and after reaching his majority was a partner with his father in the
store and warehouse, selling goods and trading with the Indians...Having
dealt with the Indians in an early day he learned to converse with them
and spoke seven different dialects.  He was an earnest worker in the
Baptist church and was one of the founders of the church in Utica."
