Charles was born before 0953 in Laon, Champagne, France.  Charles' father was Louis IV "Transmarinus" King of France and his mother was Gerberge Princess Of Germans.  His paternal grandparents were Charles King Of France and Edith Princess Of England; his maternal grandparents were Heinrich I King Of The Germans and Mathilde Countess Of Ringelheim. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Lothaire, Louis, Henri, Mathilde, Hildegarde, Mathilde and Alberade.  He was the third youngest of the eight children. He had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Henri, Gerberge, Alberade Of, Alberade and Wiltrude.  He died before 0953 in Kerker, Orlbeans, France.

‌Charles and Bonne Adelaide were married in a religious ceremony in 0972.  They had two sons and two daughters, named Othon, Eudes, Ermengarde and Gerberge.
