John the was born in 1188 in Brechin, Angusshire, Scotland.  John the's father was David Canmore and his mother was Matilda Maud De Keveliock.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Canmore and Adeline de Warenne; his maternal grandparents were Hugh de Kevelioc and Bertrade de Montfort. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Earl of Huntingdon, David, Margaret, Marjory and Ada of. He had three half-sisters named Henry, Margaret and Isabel.  He died at the age of 49 in June 1237 in Chester, England.  He was buried on June 8th, 1237 in St. Werburgh Abbey, Chester, England.
