Hugues III 'Magnus' was born in 1057 in Vermandois, Normandy, France.  Hugues III 'Magnus''s father was Henry I Capet and his mother was Anna Yaroslavna.  His paternal grandparents were Robert II 'the Pious' Capet and Constance de Toulouse; his maternal grandparents were Jarolaus (Yaroslav) I 'the Wise' and Ingigerd (Anna) Olafsdottir. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Philippe I 'the Fair', Louis IV, Emma Capet of and Robert.  He was the youngest of the five children. He had a half-brother named Hugh 'the Great'.  He died at the age of 44 on October 18th, 1101 in Tarsus, Cilicie, Asia Minor.  He was buried in St. Paul de Tarse.

‌Hugues III 'Magnus' and Adelaide were married in a religious ceremony in 1078.  They had four sons and six daughters, named Raoul, Henry, Charles, Guillaume, Matilde Maud, Beatrice, Elizabeth (Isabel), Constance, Alice and Agnes.
