Matthew Simpson "Boss" was born on September 30th, 1842 in Vigo County,Indiana. Matthew Simpson "Boss"'s father was George Rector and his mother was Elizabeth Jane VanCleave. His paternal grandparents were John Preston Rector and Catherine Price; his maternal grandparents were Benjamin VanCleave and Sarah Kerns. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Benjamin Van Cleave, Elijah O. "Lige", Wesley Jackson, James Albert, Fredrick S., Catherine M. and Margaret J.. He was the third oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 93 on February 27th, 1936 in Indiana.-
