Nancy was born on August 18th, 1770. Nancy's father was David Gwin and her mother was Jane Carlisle. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Gwin and Jane Or Jean Kinkead; her maternal grandparents were James Carlisle and Nancy Rachael Campbell. She had four brothers and four sisters, named John, James, Robert Moses, John, Mary Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Jane and Sarah. She was the second oldest of the nine children. She had two half-brothers and five half-sisters, named David Sitlington, Samuel R, Isabella, Margaret, Rachel Viola, Susan Henderson and Salley.-
