His paternal grandparents were Nymphas Bassett and Thankful Bruce; his maternal grandparents were James S. Young and Elizabeth Kinsley. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Ephraim, Oliver J., Mortimer, John, Whitlock, Louisiana and Mary Catherine. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 73 on February 3rd, 1928 in Shelby,IN.-
