His paternal grandparents were John Stewart and Elizabeth Deckard; his maternal grandparents were Elijah Eads and Laura Alice Sexton. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Herbert, Marshal, Otto S., Dillon, Curtis Cecil, Golda Verge, Cordillia and Gertrude Alice. He had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Marion, Eli, Robert, Melvina, Mary Ellen, Jane and Sissie Mollie. He died at the age of 59 on September 23rd, 1961 in Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana. He was buried in Mt. Ebal Cemetery, Monroe Co., Indiana.-
