Winfred Ernest was born on June 2nd, 1922 in Monroe Co., Indiana. Winfred Ernest's father was Ora Deckard and his mother was Mary Elizabeth Frye. His paternal grandparents were King Anthony Mone Deckard and Mary Mol Jane Eads; his maternal grandparents were Alexandra Frye and Margaret Chandler. He had four brothers named Benard, Earl Hester, Stanley and Lemuel Dewight. He died at the age of 34 on November 24th, 1956 in Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana. Services for Winfred E. Deckard, 64, of 8180 S. Old Ind. 37, who died
Monday at Bloomington Hospital, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Greene and
Harrell Mortuary with the Rev. William Strunk officiating. Burial will
be in Valhalla Memory Gardens, where the Veterans of Foreign Wars and
American Legion will conduct military graveside rites. Born June 2, 1922,
in Monroe County, he was the son of Ora and Elizabeth (Frye) Deckard. He
was a retired quarry worker and member of the Pentecostal faith. He was
an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Local 909, Laborers
International Quarry Union. Survivors include his wife, Annetta Deckard;
two sons, Foris Deckard of Bloomington and Meredith Deckard of Bedford;
two daughters, Rose Mackey and Shirley Hunter, both of Bloomington; one
brother, Earl Deckard of Smithville; and three grandsons. He was
preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stanley Deckard Friends
may call 2 - 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
