General Sanford Deckard 
General Sanford was born on October 19th, 1904 in Lawrence Co., Indiana. General Sanford's father was George Washington Deckard and his mother was Martha Mize. His paternal grandparents were John Wesley Deckard and Malissa Eads. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Clarence Jackie, Lawrence Brigham, Floyd Washington Jake, Leonard Buck, Hobert "Hobie", Ollie, Sarah, Rosetta and Eva Jane. He was the second youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 75 on March 3rd, 1980 in Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana. He was buried on March 5th, 1980 in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Bloomington, Monroe Co., Indiana.General Notes

Sinford Deckard, 75, 4111 Vernal Pike, died Monday at Bloomington
Hospital.
Born Oct 19, 1904, in Lawrence County, he was the son of George and
Martha (Mize) Deckard.
He had been employed at the Deckard Saw Mill, and was a member of
the Pentecostal faith.
surviving are one daughter, Rose Ellett, Bloomington; one brother,
Lawrence Deckard, Bedford; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Greene & Harrell Mortuary,
with the Rev. Doyle Cain officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory
Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home 7 to 9 p.m. today.
