Clarence Jackie was born on December 18th, 1889 in Lawrence Co., Indiana. Clarence Jackie's father was George Washington Deckard and his mother was Martha Mize. His paternal grandparents were John Wesley Deckard and Malissa Eads. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Lawrence Brigham, Floyd Washington Jake, Leonard Buck, General Sanford, Hobert "Hobie", Ollie, Sarah, Rosetta and Eva Jane. He was the third oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 88 on June 7th, 1978 in Hospitality House, Bedford, Lawrence Co., Indiana. He was buried in Gilgal Cemetery.General Notes
Bedford - Clarence (Jackie) Deckard, 89, formerly of R. 1, Heltonville,
died at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hospitality House in Bedford.
He was born December 18, 1889, in Lawrence County, the son of George
and Martha (Mize) Deckard. He was a retired farmer and a member of the
Pentecostal Faith.
Surviving are one son, Dale of Bedford; four daughters, Lorene Lewis
of Bedford, Oma Bartlett of R. 17, Bedford and Wanda Deckard and Faye
Deckard, both of Bloomington; three brothers, Floyd and Sinford, both of
Bloomington and Lawrence of Bedford, eight stepchildren; seven
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 3.
