Albert was born in 1843 in Paradise Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. Albert's father was George Lewis Eckert and his mother was Sarah Jane Slaymaker. His maternal grandparents were John, Jr. Slaymaker and Jeannett McIlvaine. He had four brothers and four sisters, named George H., Howard, Nathaniel, Charles Whitfield, Mary Jane, Susan C., Lavinia and Elizabeth. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.General Notes
