William Steer

William was born on April 6th, 1801 in Petworth and his baptism took place there on June 14th, 1801.¹

William's father was William Steer and his mother was Elizabeth Howick.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Steer and Jane Osborn. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, James, Henry, Robert, George, Edward, Charles, Elizabeth, Sarah and Jane.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 24 in 1825.  He was buried on June 10th, 1825 in Petworth.²
