This is not the James Mather born 1785, son of James and Betty.
He died from a stroke, Paralysis, at the age of 54 on September 3rd, 1841 in
Entwistle.

Solomon Mather
Solomon was born in June 1789 in
Turton.

Aged 64 in 1854 when died, so born about 1790.
There is no baptism on record for Solomon, so it is likely he is one of those baptised at Walmsley, where records were lost. He is likely to be the son of Isaac who had a brother Solomon.
1851 Census also show place of birth as Turton, and its possible (but not confirmed) his son was named Isaac after his father Isaac Mather. If that is correct, he must be born at least a year before sister Ann, so born about Mid 1789. This would be the first child after 4 Jan 1787 marriage, a perfect fit, else theres a 4 year gap before first child.
He died at the age of 64 on April 13th, 1854 in
Eagley.

Solomon's death in April 1854 was reported in the Bolton Chronicle: "On the 13th inst., very suddenly, Mr Solomon Mather of the Talbot Inn, Brown Street, Little Bolton."

Alice Settle was a widow in 1861, and census confirms she was from Turton. She also had Rachel Mather, boarder (sister-in-law) with her.
She died at the age of 62 in 1863 in
Edgworth.

There is only the one Bolton-le-Moors marriage for a Samuel Kay to a Nancy, and that is Nancy Mather.
There are two births:
Nancy Mather (d of Jas Mather & Sally, c. 31-May-1799) who died and
Nanny Mather (d of James Mather & Happy, c 13-May-1799).
Neither of these fit. However, we know the baptisms for this family are missing, so a birth for Nancy, daughter of Solomon Mather is quite possible. All the family were at Toppings and Nancy is a neighbour of her supposed nephew Joseph Mather in 1861.
She died at the age of 79 in November 1882 in
Turton. Her burial was on November 16th, 1882 at
St. Anne (Turton).
