Ann was born on December 19th, 1790 at Toppings and her baptism took place on January 24th, 1791 at Walmsley Presbyterian conducted by minister Thomas Davies.1 2  Ann's father was Isaac Mather and her mother was Alice Fielding.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Ann Howarth. She had four brothers and three sisters, named James, Solomon, John, Joseph, Esther, Alice and Nancy.  She was the third oldest of the eight known children.  She died at the age of 84 in April 1875 in Preston.  She was buried on April 6th, 1875 at St. John (Preston).3

‌Ann and Ralph were married in a religious ceremony on September 4th, 1811 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by Vicar J Brocklebank and witnessed by William & James Orrell.4  They had four biological sons and six biological daughters, named Thomas, Ralph, John, James, Mary, Jenny, Charlotte, Ann, Susan and Alice.  They also had an adopted daughter named Charlotte.
