Peggy, known as Margaret, was born in 1829 in Haslingden and her baptism took place there on February 1st, 1829.1 2  Margaret's father was William Woods and her mother was Nancy Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were <unknown> and Elizabeth (Betty) Mather. She had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, John and Betty. She had an adopted sister named Susannah.
