Martha's father was Danied Wood and her mother was Elizabeth Croxon. Her paternal grandparents were Abraham Wood and Sarah Eddowes. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Daniel, William, John, Leslie, Elizabeth, Elsie and Hilda.
