Mary was born on March 9th, 1837 in Broughton (Hawarden) and her baptism took place there on April 30th, 1837.1 2  Mary's father was Samuel Williams and her mother was Jane Jones.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Williams and Ann Millington. She had six brothers and a sister, named John, John, James, Charles, Job, William and Eliza.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
