Catherine's father was John Williams and her mother was Hannah Jones.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Williams and Ann Millington. She had three brothers and five sisters, named William, Thomas, John, Elizabeth, Hannah, Ann, Mary and Frances.  She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
